Thanks It looks like that could be him Herbert is my partner's great grandfather. Herbert's son (her grandfather) was William born in 1917
I can't see a date on your post so not 100 percent sure
We are trying to trace her family tree which is why we want the information
Yes he was registered in the Leek district

Herbert married Emily Felthouse (born 1896) in 1913

Herbert seems to be the only Herbert Sutton b Staffs around that time so it looks like we may have the correct one

His mother died 1906

William Sutton Grundy married Olive elizabeth - so it seems Herbert's father is Edwin Sutton - but he never appears on census with herbert's mum

The son George E who was age 2 in 1901 -his full name was George Edwin Sutton
We are not allowed to post 1911 census -but if you check the index you will find george edwin Sutton in same household as Edwin Sutton

so it seems Edwin looked after (at least one of) the children after his wife's death

I can find Edwin Sutton in 1871/1881 census but not 1891/1901???

On 1891 he is a Farm Servant with the Edge family aged 30 shown as married, on same page is a Rose Deaville. same surname as his wife's maiden name.
