Delighted the information is useful - it seemed rather a lame result at first sight.  I wonder whether Benjamin was living away when he married;  he would only need to have been resident for 7 days in the parish before the wedding.
Likewise wives often returned to the family home for the birth particularly of a first child;  might Ben have been only a temporary resident then too????

Hi Roz - Just to let you know that thanks to your info I managed to get back from 1824 to 1750 in just four hours of following up your leads- still can't find much about James father (the 1st James!) but it feels great to get to where I am.
