Hi I am not really a beginner!

I am trying to remember the word for old family tree that was published in old books century ago - the text in the book was calligraphy style. I think the book is all about old well known families in each county. The word I am looking for start with V. Is it Vistior? I tried dictionary and wilkepedia.
