MOSSON - Wyck
« on: Tuesday 22 March 11 02:53 GMT (UK) »
HI,
I am trying to track down my 6x great grandfather, Richard Mosson.  I do have that he lived in Wyck Rissington.   He supposely married Mary Clifford.  I don't know who his parents were.

Thanks,
Dawn Christenson

Hi Dawn.......
You didn't give a timescale but I have possibly found him on Familysearch.org as below......

Richard Mosson baptised 16 Aug 1795 Stow on the Wold, Gloucestershire (a very beautiful part of England!!).
Parents shown as Thomas and Mary Mosson.

It also shows a Mary Clifford baptised 28 Nov 1795 also at Stow on the Wold. Parents shown as Jno and Mary Clifford which could well be his bride.

Can't find the marriage though.....!

Wyck Rissington is less than 2 miles south of Stow on the Wold....

HI,

I know that he is from the 1700s.   His granddaughter, Ann Mosson emigranted to Wisconsin in the late 1868 and died 1869.  I have not found her ship records, but her husband was Esau John Dowler who was supposely from the same area.

Thanks so much - I have started on this family, but has not been easy.  But I am also new in UK research.

Another website for you info that extracted this.....
Ann Maria Mosson emigrated June 1858 to New York, USA.
She was buried 22 May 1867 at Forest Hill Cemetery, Madison, Dane County, Wisconsin, USA.......
Plus info on Esau.....

Thanks.   I wonder if that is Bill Featherstone and that he did a website.  If he did, I did not realize it.  I have not talked to him for quite a while.   Good research!

I will have to check out that ship record.  I wonder if Anna Marie and Mary are the same person.   I have found their tombstone at Forest Hill Cemetry (very old and big cemetery here in Madison, Wisconsin) which is located in the oldest part....

Thanks for the leads - I will check them out.

I am still working on Richard.   Which cemetery did you find his grave?
How are you related to him?

Hi,

I have a John in my family tree, but has no spouse  (or at least to me unknown)
His parents were Joseph and Mary Ann.
