Date and ideas on the event please!

I've posted it again, to request a restore! Just re-read your earlier post though China and realised that I should've just renamed this one!
6 May 1910 was a Friday, so if it is the coronation, then yes - perhaps the kids were at school?
We believe my Great-Grandmother grew up in Blue Bell Hill, Kent, England so I think this is where the photo was taken.
Did you see the other photo I've posted of the two females sitting down? Someone has suggested that it was taken the same day as this one.

Have to disagree on the date,I think earlier,there are some quite young women in this who I would expect to see in more up to date clothes & hairstyles for 1910-12.Closer to 1905 would be my view.

That blows my next theory out of the water then!  I was going to ask whether it might be possible the date is the beginning of the first world war?  That would explain why there are so few men in the photo. 

Could they be suffragettes?  Clutching at straws here

Most of the women appear to be of the same age, just one or two younger ones at the front. I can`t see any middle aged ladies.
If they were suffragettes they would be wearing the purple,green&white ribbon. Perhaps the flowers are in place of that.
I wondered if it could be a ladies` college ---what flowers are worn on May morning?
However there would probably not be any children present  at all .
