Thomas Tamsett marriage about 1750
« on: Monday 28 March 11 16:51 BST (UK) »
Hi, I am looking for a marriage between a Thomas Tamsett and Elizabeth sometime before 1759 in possibly Brede. I am a member of Sussex FHG and have their Marriage Index CD but it has gone belly-up since moving to Windows 7. Tamsett could be Tomsett or any of the variants Tompset, Thompsett, Tamset, etc. If any one can help either with the marriage or the CD I would be quite happy  :)

Regarding CD that won't run in Windows 7; have you tried using the compatibility mode? See this page for more detail:

Failing that, if you have Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate versions, you can install Windows 7 XP-mode. A hefty download, but works a dream... Google Windows 7 XP-mode.

Just on the CD Issue.  You are not alone with the compatability problem of the SFHG Marriage Index with Windows 7.
I wrote to their Teckies who did their very best to help, but in the end I found it simplest to continue accessing the CD from my old machine that I was keeping as a back up anyway.  Roy G

Just in case anyone hasn't seen the SFHG work around for issues with Win7 it is on this page.
http://www.sfhg.org.uk/smi/windows7.html

Strangely mine seems to work on Win7 with no problems so I cannot say if the work around works or not.

 :o

The very thought of my SMI disk not working is awful - but as another user of Windows 7 - I have always used Omega's method and it is fine.   ;D
