Shirley-
Samuel Caldwell age 45, Eliza age 14 & James age 10 from Coleraine 1857 on "Elizabeth" to St. John.
Nancy Caldwell age 50, Jane age 20, Nancy age 18, Rebecca age 9 & Emily age 7 from Coleraine 1858 on "Mary Ann" to St. John.
(from Irish Passenger Lists 1847-1871)

Samuel Caldwell born c1812 had sister Margaret & brother John (d.1859) who married Jane but I don't have the names of their parents.

Dr. William H. Caldwell (c1854-1901), medical doctor & coroner in Coleraine, was originally from Aghadowey about 10 miles outside Coleraine.

Shirley -
You might try looking in the Giants Causeway, Antrim area.  My gr-grandfather, William Caldwell, was born there in 1811....or at least we think so.  He married in 1834 in Glasgow, Scotland.  Went to Canada in 1850 but died when ship sank in St. Lawrence.

Records generally started in 1845 for marriages and 1864 for Births & Deaths,

Hi Shirley,

What  denomination were your Caldwell ancestors?

The records for non Catholic marriages started in 1845.

Civil Registration was introduced in 1864.

Christopher the Caldwells from Aghadowey (ancestors of Dr. Caldwell in Coleraine) were Presbyterian. It's quite possible that Samuel Caldwell's family were also connected.

Shirley-Marie: Going through older posts and came across this one. By now you might have been able to find more information but if you haven't done so the following might be of interest.

According to notes I was given:

Samuel Caldwell (b.c1812) m. Nancy Gibson (c1808-1869), daughter of Thomas Gibson, and had at least 9 children.
1. Margaret (b.c1834).
2. Samuel (b.c1834) m.(1859) Margaret Irving and had family.
3. William John (b.c1835).
4. Jane (b.c1838).
5. Nancy (b.c1840).
6. Eliza (b.c1843).
7. James (c1847).
8. Rebecca (c1849).
9. Emily (b.c1851).

Samuel (b.c1812) had a sister Margaret and brother John (d.1859 m. Jane). I don't know the names of their parents. The family is believed to have been from Aghadowey Parish.

1857 "Elizabeth" to St. John, Canada (all from Coleraine): Samuel Caldwell (45), Eliza (14), James (10).
1858 "Mary Ann" to St. John, Canada (all from Coleraine): Nancy Caldwell (50), Jane (20), Nancy (18), Rebecca (11), Emily (7).

I'm not related to this family and have no further details.
