Lawrence and Bridge families Maldon
« on: Thursday 31 March 11 03:51 BST (UK) »
I am looking for information on my 3x grt grandparents, John Lawrence and Hannah Bridge. The 1841 census shows them living at 66 Theobalds Rd Holborn London aged 60 and 58 and born out of the county. I have found a marriage of a John Lawrence(parish of St Peter) and Hannah Bridge(parish of St Mary) at St Peter Maldon 1st August 1802 and think this is probably them. The witnesses were Sarah Latchford and Thomas Lockrey or Lackrey. So far I have not found the bapt of John or Hannah at the given parish churches using the SEAX site.
Any help would be appreciated.

HI, well they look like they were still alive in 1851:-

John Lawrence 70 occ Labouring Man b Norfolk
Ann 68 b Essex
Residing at 64, Eagle Street, Finsbury, Holborn, Middx
Census Ref HO107/1513/265/41

So a marriage in Maldon Essex, has a good chance of being correct.

Hi,
Thanks for your very prompt reply. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I just cant find that entry for 64 Eagle Street. I've looked on Free Cen and put in the numbers and have trawled through the parts of Eagle Street that I could find on Ancestry but no luck. Since Eagle St is close to Theobalds Rd (1841 census) and in 1851,1 of their children, William, was living with his family in Lambs Conduit Passage and another son Frederick was with his family in Red Lion Passage I am hopeful that this is my couple. Could you tell me how I can bring their entry up on Ancestry or FreeCen.
Thanks again

Hi, I am off work at present, but have checked the census ref again on FindMyPast and it brings the couple up in the household, can only suggest Ancestry have them under a different ref or have no transcription of the page, suggest doing a search by name using b Norfolk 1781 residing Holborn?

Hi all, I am a little suprised that a response to my previous post has not been taken up by a RC helper, as step52 I am sure would love to both confirm and record the info that she requires from Ancestry etc, please have a look!

I had a friend who has subs. to FindMyPast do  a look up using given reference so have now seen the entry. I don't know for sure it is my couple but seems to line up except for Ann instead of Hannah but similar sound. Thanks again for your help Keyboard 86. I'll now see if I can track bapt of
John Lawrence in Norfolk and Hannah in Essex.

Kind regards
