I think Townsend St is the best fit at the moment... but still checking. The only other Dublin '...end' I can think of so far is Rinsgend - which is a village / district, not a street

is there anything else written on the the cert with a captial T to compare the first letter of grooms address ?

I just checked Thom's directory of 1879 - and there is a 117 Townsend St. It's listed with 116 as a James Roche provision dealer. There could have been people living over the business.

What were the names and occupations on the cert you have ?

In the same 1879 directory, 5 Fitzwilliam Lane is listed as John Singleton - horse dealer

updated : he's also listed at the address in 1877 & 1880

The marriage was for Patrick Malone and Ellen Sunderland in 1878 but it doesn't any information regarding their professions nor their parents. Patrick Malone on 1 of his son's birth certs states that he is a coach builder.

Also I forgot to mention there is no capital " T " on the cert , just another ''t'' in Fitzwilliam Lane. No the occupations are not filled in on the cert.

Hi Shane
I found this link on Irish Genealogy that I thought it might refer to my great grand mother Ellen Sunderland's baptism which probably means that she may orginally have been of church of Ireland faith . Do you know if I will be able to get this from the registry office . ? There seems to be a few mistakes with spelling and dates on this particular link.

I would be interested in knowing your opinion. Thanks again

The record in your link is for a baptism at St. Andrew's R.C. Church. I think the details n/r n/r 2006 mean that the date of baptism was not recorded (not sure what 2006 means unless it is date records were transcribed or just an error).

It's not unusual to find spelling variations in records.

Civil registration of births started in 1864- you will be able to order copies of births registrated from that year but church records such as baptisms are entirely separate from vital records (births, marriages, deaths).

Would I be able to get a copy of the church baptism cert from the National library or would I have to go to the church that is assuming it still exists?

Perhaps if you give us an idea of the date someone might be able to confirm that the records are at the National Library or you could check their website-
