PEARSON family Tunbridge Wells
« on: Saturday 02 April 11 02:25 BST (UK) »
Hi,
trying to track down some ancestors.

They appear here

http://theweald.org/N10.asp?NId=5271156

in the census from 1881.

I believe that william's father's name was Jonathan and the mothers name was Mary but don't have any other information.

William's wife was Ann Hodge, daughter of Henry and Eliza, but agian just know the names.

They travelled back and forth to Australia with their young family, but not sure when or where for the deaths of William and Ann.

Any further information regarding this family would be much appreciated.

thanks

Hi

From the earlier Census, it does look like William's parents were Jonathan & Mary.
Do you have he and Ann's marriage certificate, naming his father as Jonathan?

Cheers

Hi AMBLY,

have not found any marriage certificate for William and Ann.

I think I have what is William's Baptism on 16 Apr 1848 in Tudley and Capel, Kent, England which show's his parents as Jonathan and Mary.

I have an immigration register from the Ship Earl Dalhousie on the 22 Jul 1878 which shows that William's mother was Mary who was born in Kent. Does not mention his father. It also mentions a brother Jonathan who is living in Australia so could be named after his father.

It says that Ann's parents were Henry and Eliza Hodge.

William lists his occupation as an Engineer.

They go back to England in 1881.

Then they come back to Australia in 1884.

Eliza Ann Pearson (their daughter) was my great grandmother and she married in 1903 in Australia, so she definitely stayed but not sure about the rest of the family.

The trail for William and Ann goes cold from 1884. Don't know much about Jonathan and Mary and their lineage.

thanks for you help
cheers

Thanks AMBLY !!!

From doing some more digging I think Mary's parents are possibly Thomas Grant and Ann ..... ? There seems to be a Baptism record in Reigate with approx the right dates if this is the same person.

Jonathan's parents still seem to be elusive.

Thanks again.
