and his wife

Christina Anderson Bryce died in 1992.

Their son John Bryce died on 12.04.2006.  He also was somewhere in East Loathian.

Hi there!

I've had a look at Aberlady MI's and although there are two BRYCE entries I dont think they relate to your Bryce family.

Are you sure they were buried?  Could they not have been cremated?

Greetings Lorna

Thank you for your interest.

The only reference to any of the three deaths was a newspaper obituary for Robert Cowans Lees bryce.  It states he passed away in the Roodlands Hospital and that his "funeral was private".

I cannot confirm whether Robert his wife or son were buried or cremated.

Cheers

That is a shame that you have not got more information.  I take it that you are not in Scotland?  I could try and find the deaths for you when I am at New Register House soon (Dec) and transcribe the info on the certificates if you like?  I know its not an instant answer, but its the best I can do at the moment.  Let me know if you want me to do that - I'm happy to help answer your question.

Greetings again Lorna

That would be very kind of you if you could assist.  I live in New Zealand.  Made a good number of inquiries in regards all three deaths including writing to the Haddington Hospital and making inquiries of local churchs and burial grounds.  Despite this all I ever found was the obituary published in the Edinburgh Newspaper.

Kind regards

Alex G :)

Ok - I will see if I can find the original entries at NRH when I am next there.  I will come back to you with what I find or dont find.  I wont forget.

Alex

I dont know how this forum works but I would be unhappy with transferring private information (ie on people who had died recently) over the web.  Do you have an email address - or better still is there a facility to send me a private message?

Hi Lorna,

You are correct about not sending sensitive info on this forum, but RootsChat has it's own private message system. Underneath person's names etc, there is a small green scroll which is dark green when person is offline and light green when online. This system can be used to pass emails and other sensitive info. Welcome to RootsChat and hope you get as much satisfaction as I have from the site.

Hi Newzealander,
I helped you with this query in April of this year  I walked round Aberlady cemetery  with a grave digger and could not find
your relatives graves . I also contacted a few undertakers and one of the crematoriums here with your query.

I also found  transcriptions of their obituaries from the local  newspaper and  transcribed the death certs. of your uncle and aunt on a visit to NRH
in Edinburgh if my memory serves me right it was their daughter in Glasgow who registered one of the deaths.

I also explained the only way to get a definite answer to your query was to contact Haddington Register Office and they would make a search for you.
Your decided against this  due to the cost.

Regards,
