Minnie M H Swigart - Completed
« on: Tuesday 05 April 11 11:56 BST (UK) »
Could some kind soul with an ancestry subscription please check an entry for me so I can order a death certificate?

I've just checked this at the local library and can't work out whether I've written the details down incorrectly.

I'm looking for the death of Minnie M[aud] H[amlet] SWIGART. Ancestry gave me april/may/june 1952  at Newton - aged 25 - and a reference of 10f 23. I assume its Newton, Manchester but I can't find any reference to "10f" and consequently don't know where to send to for the cert.

Thanks
Ray

Hi

It's most definitely 10f  :)

See here

I think Warrington or St Helens would be where records are kept now?

Cheers

That reference is a Volume and Page number.
Together with year and quarter, these are used by the General register Office (GRO) and you quote them when ordering certificates.

Thanks both. There are umpteen places called "Newton" and I wasn't sure which one. I think the Ancestry reference mentioned Lancashire so I'll try Wigan first.
