« on: Saturday 23 April 05 13:27 BST (UK) »
Hello

I am researching the families of John b abt 1819 & Stephen b abt 1822 Doughty, children of Edward & Eleanor Doughty from Houghton Norfolk. Emigrated to Canada in 1849. Looking for other family members.

Thank you Casey Jo

Hi Casey Jo,

Are you still looking for information about your Doughtys?  There is lots of information about John and Stephen and their families in Ontario.  But I wasn't sure if you had all this already, since your request says you are looking for other family members.  I have found some census entries and various births and marriages of their children.  Would you like me to post the info?

Hi Casey Jo,

The info is not from Norfolk - it is from Ontario.  I wasn't sure if you had traced them after emmigration or not.  I know I found them on the 1881 Canadian Census on familysearch.org, but the site seems to be down right now so I can't paste it here for you.  If I remember correctly, I couldn't find John and Hannah, but some of their children were living together.  (Don't quote me on that!)

Here are some other tidbits that look like they belong to your family.  It looks like they settled in Hastings County, Ontario.  These are all from http://www.rootsweb.com/~onvsr/ (Ontario's equivalent of freebmd) :

There was a couple of things that I didnt have that you listed so Thank you very much Martha!!

John and Hannah both died before the 1871 and 1881 census respectively & yes you were correct in saying that some of the children lived together re:1881 Census

Richard Doughty although from the same area as Stephen & John does not appear to be related. If I am correct I think Richard came from Lincolnshire

Thank you again
