Joseph Harries of Talgarth, died Towerof London
« on: Monday 11 April 11 17:28 BST (UK) »
I have stumbled across a particularly interesting relative of mine.

Joseph Harries was born in 1702, Trefeca, Talgarth, Breconshire.  His parents were Hywel Harries & "Susanna", Joseph was the oldest of 3 sons.

He married a Ms Jones and they had one daughter -  Anna Maria Harries,

OCCUPATION: He attained celebrity as an astronomer, mathematician, and author.

OCCUPATION: He had a high office in the Mint.

DEATH:  26 Sep 1764; died in the Tower of London.

What would very much like to know is whether he was executed, or did he die a natural death.

I presume there must be records of who were executed at the Tower of London, has anyone any ideas on how to find them?
Looking for relatives of John Cowham Parker (1773-1841), mayor of Hull & had 2 wives, Ann Goodhand & Elizabeth/Eliza Speedings.  And information of John Goodhand Parker, William Bilbie Parker, Henry Watson Parker, Marion Parker (nee Rorauer), Wilfred Watson Parker & Frances Charlotte Mary Purssell (& her parents Alfred Purssell & Ellen Ware, and grandparents Roger & Charlotte Purssell).

Also Maternal line - Hodgson, Bacon, Stapylton, Slingsby, Percy, Mortimer.

Hi

Wikipedia has an article on him (surname spelt HARRIS) in which it is said that he died "unexpectedly after a short illness".  Have you seen it?

Glad to help :)

Boyd's London Burials shows that he was buried at the chapel of St Peter ad Vincula in the Tower of London (again as Jos[eph] HARRIS).
