Jane Armitage b 1843

Hi Can anyone help with information on Jane Armitage  b 1843 Kelso  . The 1871 census in Sheffield England has her married  to William Watson b 1833 Sheffield   at this time they have 4 children Mary b 1867 Margaret b1869 & William b 1871 in Sheffield . I would be delighted if anyone  can give information on Janes background

That marriage was 1858 so she would only have been 15 if born 1843.  If you check - there are 2 William Watson's in Yorkshire who are both married to Jane's from Scotland.

The Jane Armitage marriage is not the one which relates to the 1871 entry you are quoting

I have looked at the other Watson family but the children are not right . My family also had also had  John b1872     Alice  b 1876 & Florence b1882 . Florence is the ancester I am researching . She later married Leonard Helliwell       Tineke

There is nothing wrong with the 1871 entry - what I am saying is that the wife Jane b 1843 elso was not Jane Armitage

Hi Just found    Jane  on 1881  census   with   Mary     John  & Alice  Just says b Scotland so may not be Armitage  William must have been elsewhere  ,  says married   & Florence was born 1882   so not widowed .Any ideas on finding more about Jane .

A copy of one of the childrens birth certs will give her maiden name
