Today's value for old Wills & Probate
« on: Tuesday 12 April 11 18:43 BST (UK) »
Does anyone know of a good easy site that will convert the amount on a Will or Probate value to the value today?

I did find one a while ago which was very easy to use but cannot find it now.

It is interesting to see just how much our ancestors were worth when they died.

Hi Old Timer,

Many thanks for that site.  It is very quick and easy to use and I have added it to my very long list of favourites.

Nice to know that there was money in the family at one time, pity it ran out before it got to me.

Best wishes,
Elizabeth

Here's an extension to the original question; -

If  UK Stg 1548/3/10 had been deposited in the Bank of England at the time, ... what would it be worth now?

Any financial whizzkids out there?

Is that £1,548 pounds 3 shillings and 10 pence? If so, it's probably worth nothing. In fact if that was a bank in Australia you'd probably be up for some fees and charges.  ;D

Why do you say it would be worth nothing Ruskie?  Surely when currency was converted, the bank balances would have been converted too??
