1841 census

trying to find 1841 census for donald mclean born 1818 stornoway scotland, was 33 in 1851 a shipmaster  cromwell st stornoway. he wed a ann mckenzie (year not known) i have all other census,s except this one, can anyone help please? with thanks.
sephton/sefton, dutton, cooper, reynolds, hulme, mclean, lewell, austin, gerrard, brown.

Is a shipmaster the same as a mariner?  If so -  he may have been at sea

not sure? it has shipmaster on all the other census,s thats all i know. but you could be right.

Yes, if he was a shipmaster he was probably at sea. In fact you're quite lucky you found him in all the other censuses. All the shipmasters I have appear at home only in one or two censuses.
