Possible marriage BENNETT - PICOT 1842/3
« on: Friday 15 April 11 13:27 BST (UK) »
I believe Henrietta BENNETT married PICOT, possibly Charles, in Jersey about 1842/3.  This was a St Helier family and the 3 Picot children were Charles, Julia and Alice Anne.

I would be so grateful if anyone could see if such a marriage is indexed.

With Thanks.

St Helier baptism

Alice Ann Picot, birth 20/3/1848,  daughter of Charles Picot and Frances Partridge. Father's occupation Master Mariner, godparents Father and Grace Bennett.

Ditto for Julia Picot, birth 31/8/1845, godparents Father and Elizabeth Picot

Also for Charles, birth 17/9/1843, godparents Mother and Father

Plus Charles Francis, 24/7/1842, godparents Mother and Father - presumably died as an infant.

Is it possible that Henrietta was his second wife?

Thank you all very much for the replies to this Post, most of all for the Baptisms.

Yes, I chose the wrong young lady!  "Henrietta Bennett 20" (actually stepdaughter) and "---------  Partridge  30" are both with Grace Sophia Bennett in 1841.  It seems clear now that "--------" is for Frances [this could be interpreted as 'ditto' rather than 'unknown' since the entry above is 'Fanny'] and it was she who married Charles Picot.  Frances Partridge was born in 1810 the sister of Grace Sophia.

The children (nieces and nephew) stay with this family till grown up.  Charles jnr migrated & married in England as an Army officer.  Julia unmarried is still with the younger Grace Bennett in 1891.
I'm sorry I have no further information that would connect other Picot families.
