Who were her parents

I am looking for the parents of Ann Maxwell,she was born around 1810,she married Thomas Wilson in Sanquer Dumfrieshire???.I have Ann and Thomas on the 1851 census with their 7 daughters and Anns mother Elizabeth living with them.Elizabeth was aged 65 and listed as a widow making her born 1786.I have no idea what Elizabeths maiden name was or her husbands name.Can anyone help.Anne.

This appears to be the only possibility on the IGI (in Scotland)
ANN MAXWELL 
Christening:  17 APR 1808   Cults, Fife, Scotland
Father:  ALEXANDER MAXWELL   
Mother:  BETTY CHALMERS
Batch C114192

Looking at the batch, it appears Betty was wife no 2 to Alexander (or of course there are 2 Alexanders).

The distance between Sanquhar (the only spelling I could find) and Cults is 73 miles.

There are gaps in the IGI in Dumfriesshire and it might be worth contacting the family record centre in Dumfries (don't know their email, but should be on web). Certain Parish Registers were incomplete or lost. It is worth remembering that the IGI is only as good as the surviving sources, not to mention transcription errors and the horrendous muddles that result from members' supposed genealogies getting the same weight at real records.

As mentioned on other threads for some odd reason male births aren't loaded on to IGI for some parishes but they do exist in the records.  I would question the female coverage as well.  Some of my lot are in the records but not on the IGI.
