Good find JP! Rabbett - no wonder I couldn't find her searching for Rab*it*

You're missing nothing today. Rain, no pétanque, no chance of being outside Saillan at lunchtime. May have to spend the afternoon looking for dead people!

Have a good Easter

I don't know who this Emily is but looking on the Bedfordshire Archival website there is an Emily Rabbit mentioned in the quarter sessions who has a bastard child but that is 1820.

There's a later one on the A2A site:
13 Jan 1823 Epiphany Sessions. Recognizances: Enoch Gasser otherwise Enoch Bonney of St Paul's, labourer, bastardy with Emily Rabbitt of St Peter's.

This looks to be William who was buried in June 1823 age 5 mths

An Enoch Garside married Mary Bonny at St Paul's on 23 Jan 1798; but they didn't baptise a son Enoch

It's another scorcher today - shame your weather's so dismal

CraftyP- there's a baptism of a Reuben Cooper Rabbit at Henlow on 25 May 1834, born 26 Apr, to John and Jane Rabbit. I can't find their marriage nor can I trace them thereafter. Do you have any record of them. I'm hoping Jane might have been Jane Cooper and so would link into my Henlow Coopers (of which I am one!)

John and Hannahs' father I believe could have married three times ......

You are correct. From the Bedford St Paul & St Peter parish transcripts.

(1) Richard Rabbitt, bach of St Peters, married Ann Childes, spinster at Bedford St Paul on 1 Oct 1776 by licence; but the licence transcripts does not have this entry.

(2) Richard Rabbit, widower married Sarah Linford, spinster at Bedford St Paul on 13 Oct 1778

(3) Richard Rabit, widower of St Pauls, married Charlotte Waters, widow at Bedford St Peter on 11 Oct 1798. Bedford St Paul has the banns for this dated 8 Apr 1798.

regards John

There is a burial of Ann Rabbit on 2 Mar 1778 but there is no further info on the entry. There's a baptism of James Rabbit, son of Richard & Ann, at Bedford St Paul on 11 May 1777 & a his burial there, perhaps, on 14 Aug 1777 - but again no further info on the entry to confirm who he was. Another burial is there on 27 Jan 1778 of Mary Rabbet & again no further details.

You  know the baptism of John in 1779 at St Peters & of Hannah in 1786 at St Pauls to Richard & Sarah,

I found a burial at Bedford St Peter on 11 Jun 1806 of Martha, daughter of Richard & Charlotte Rabbit from 'the House of Industry'
Plus 2 other burials at Bedford St Paul on 17 Jan 1804 of Lucy, daughter of Richard Rabbitt (at Old meeting) and on 16 July 1811 of Isaac son of Richard Rabbitt, don't know if/where these were baptised.

Fron NBI, Richard Rabbitt was buried 3 Feb 1824 aged 77 at St Pauls & last wife Charlotte buried there on 9 July 1822 aged 56.

Thankyou all of you for your interest.

Although odd bits I already knew there are parts that I didn't and consequently have been able to note them down.

David.....  For Reuben Rabbit & parents John & Jane etc....

Find on 1841 census Class HO107/Piece 3, Book 7, Civil Parish Henlow;RD 10; Folio 8; Page 11; Line 13

... transcribed as Mobbit & someone has corrected to Mabbott & the first letter looks like an 'M'

You'll find the family on 1851, both John & Jane born Baldock; so it would not surprise me that this is John Mabbit that married Jane Blazley at  Baldock on10 June 1821

Thanks John. Great sleuthing. I'm sure you've found them. Couldn't work out why I could find no trace of them either before or after Reuben's baptism.

Two of John and Jane's daughters, both baptised in Baldock, married into my Rook family in Henlow. I can't work out why Reuben should have been given a middle name of Cooper. Must check the Baldock background - there are four Blazeley baptisms in Baldock with a middle name Cooper too.*

Thanks again

David

*Thomas Blazeley married Mary Cooper at Baldock in 1791, and Jane their daughter was baptised in 1803. Not my family.
