sharpen and date please
« on: Saturday 23 April 11 19:22 BST (UK) »
Hi, this photo is from my late gran's album, pasted down so cannot tell what paper it is printed on and it is very blurry. Looks like black and white ? I have not been able to identify any relatives in it yet and your guidance re date may help me in that.  I guess it was taken in South Ayrshire, Scotland and these men are war wounded or perhaps its a Sanitorium. I would also like to identify the location so please advise where else I should post it once dated.

Thanks in advance : )

Hi 2Harriet  :)

I think your dating guess is as good as any - WW2 or just after - and one of the men is wearing a Scottish regiment's cap (I'll probably get in trouble from the armed forces folk for calling it that!) so a Scottish location is possible.

There isn't really anything in the photo to help with location, but with the cap badge and the possibility of it being in South Ayrshire, the Armed Forces board people might be able to guess where it was taken.  You could post a message there, with a link back to this thread, so they can see the photo.

Cheers
Prue

Thanks Carolyn and Prue,
the sharpened version is definitely an improvement, thanks- faces are a bit clearer and the badge on the cap so this may help when I follow the advice to try the armed service forum.

Great site this isnt it? everyone so friendly and helpful, thanks again.

Very blurry but looks like Cameron Highlanders.
The cap is  called a Glengarry.

The roof of the house in behind the soldiers looks a bit flat for Ballochmyle, Mauchline.
