Burial Place
« on: Sunday 24 April 11 17:10 BST (UK) »
Can anyone please help me find out where Alexander MacGregor or McGregor was buried.   He was born on 30th April 1875 in Mortlach, Dufftown, Banffshire and I have a death certificate for him as 19th April 1875 at Mannin Infirmary, Bradden but unable to find out where he is buried.   I have a marriage for him to Martha Annie MacLean in Sept 1900 in West Derby and she died in Manchester (I thnk ??) in 1946.

I would greatly appreciate any assistance finding out where he is buried.

Many thanks

Evelyn

Mannin Infirmary was the later name for Braddan Poorhouse - it was opposite the Mental Hospital and shared some facilities (inc the kitchens) - both now demolished (a new Hospital was put on site of old Lunatic Asylum - the Mannin infirmary site is not yet developed but looks as tho soon will be as surrounded by new builds - some of perimeter wall still standing. Both Asylum + Infirmary buried their dead in Braddan New ground a short distance down road - usually each grave will have a marker but 4 ?  unrelated bodies might be in it

The   paper  burial  index   says   age  80   from  Onchan   which  means   I  think  there  must  have   been  family  involved  in

burial  or  he  was  known  to have  a  home  there.   The  plot  number  is  5158  but  there  is  no headstone.
