« on: Friday 11 June 04 21:16 BST (UK) »
I've just received a Marriage certificate for a John Severs & Henrietta Farrah but there is no fathers name for either on the certificate. Can anyone help. I'm particularly looking for the father of John Severs. They were married on Oct 30th 1848 "at the Parish Church in the Parish of St Cuthbert in the City of York" John was of full age.  Thank you

Hi Mo Thanks very much for the info, it has helped a lot. Can you tell me what the IGI is & how I can hold of the information, also the census information you gave me, is that from CD's. How can I get hold of that also. I want to do a lot more searching on the Sever Family. Thanks very much :)

you are very welcome Lis... the IGI is an index done by the Latter day saints... it is a free family history search engine the URL is below: it is quite good but one must check as there are some mistakes in transcription but the dates and parish names do mean that you can get in touch with the church direct or maybe some kind soul that lives nearby could check the actual register entry to confirm

www.familysearch.org

I do have the 1881 Census on disc but it is also freely available on the above site... the discs can be bought from the LDS and they have family history centers all over the world and they can give you details as to how to get hold of them...

the http://freeBMD.rootsweb.com is also a marvellous site.  They have a lot of the Births Marriages and Deaths from 1837...

I can access the 1837 site direct but it is a pay site...

I am glad you were pleased with the info and if I can help again do let me know..

Best wishes

Mo
