1796 Longford Ireland
« on: Wednesday 27 April 11 22:18 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find the birth of Alexander Cathcart in Longford.
He was born Jan 1798
I believe his father Alexander Cathcart was from Granard.
He got a Flax spinning wheel in 1796 for Flax Premiums Co Longford.
Does anyone know where I could get information on this?
Any birth or work records?

Trying to find a marriage record on them.
I know they belonged to them Protestant parish
I believe they married their and moved to Canada
where they had 6 children but only 4 that I have names for.
Would there be any records on them leaving Ireland
I believe he was born in 1798

To search for early records such as the baptism of Alexander or the marriage of his parents you would need to check what records are available for the area the family lived in. You also need to know the denomination - e.g. Church of Ireland , Presbyterian, Methodist etc..

Have you tried the Granard parish registers. These cover RC statistics for Granard from the late 1700's through to late 1800's

Hope you have some luck
