Two different lads...last one is a LCpl circa 1918-1922 he has one yrs overseas stripe so would be entitled to British War Medal and Victory Medal...I think the ribbon visible  is British War Medal.
Pity the shoulder title is blurred....

Hi Ady,

Thankyou for your info.

I'm new to all the army history in England. I just looked at the British War Medal history and it says that this medal was awarded for war service between 5 Aug 1914 and 11 Nov 1918. This was later extended to cover post-war service in Russia during 1919 and 1920.

Do you think then that this L/Corporal would have finished his service, and as he is wearing the medal (if this is the British War medal) then this photo would have been taken after 1918, or even after 1920?

He would not have received it until he finished his service in that period wouldn't he? Or did they receive this during?

My understanding is they were awarded in 1921.
