Overseas Chevrons came in in 1918...Possibly Boer War Ribbons with a Star?
If they are WW1 Campaign medals they were issued around 1921/22 the Star was started to be awarded in 1918.
Remember that there was still fighting in Russia etc going on in 1919 so it maybe a death from there or the Flu epidemic.

Hi everyone
I think we have cracked it! The person I think it is, was in the Boer war and he enlisted again in the Army Reserve (Special Reservists) in 1914. His daughter's death was registered in the 3rd Quarter of that year. He is shown on his army records as being at home from the 4th Sept to 21st.
Hope this tallies with all your thinkings?

The overseas chevrons werent on uniforms til 1918 but Its possible you have the correct lad with Boer War ribbons.
Have you got a name His Medal Index Card may give other clues.

I'm hoping a friend will upload the "other" photo I talked about as well. Then we can get your opinions to whether they are one and the same person! I am more than happy to be wrong about them being the same person!
PS we have looked at all his available army records

I'm knew to Rootschat so excuse me for any errors.
I am working with 32ndiris who has kindly been helping me on our Beazley connection, so have this information about who we think this may be.

I also have this photo we had of what our family believe is a Beazley. There is no writing on it but the children are about about correct ages for for this Beazley if it is James Beazley married to Sarah (Larner or Lurner).
As 32ndiris has said these two soldiers do not look alike, but both may be from the same Beazley family.

I have James Beasley's war record which states all his family members, so I know this record is correct for my tree.
What we are not sure on is if this soldier in either photo is this James Beasley.
There were several of his uncles and brothers that were soldiers as well. Maybe by identifying his badges and uniform etc, we can narrow it down.

This is the best I could identify info on his card Medal Index Card.

James Beasley (sometimes spelt Beazley in his war record, and he signed with a 'z' or 's' on different documents)

Not the same person in my view. This is a more recent photo, post WW1 & possibly into the early 20's.
He's a L/Corp. in this & has one chevron whereas in the earlier photo he's a full Corporal with 2 chevrons.

If he was wearing the full set ie. 14/15 Star,British War Medal & Victory medal they would be this way in order of precedence,so the first medal would be the 14/15 Star which this isn't so I don't think it'e either of the other 2.It could be good conduct medal.
