Hi Jericho,

What with those Stebbing Searles and those you'll see when you receive "From Bardfield to Brookend" you'll be knee deep in Searles  ;D.

Good luck.

Hi Derek

I have already received the book, although I haven't managed to have a good look at it yet
I can see how relevent it is to my Searles family, just a pity that my Henry hadn't been discovered by the time the book went to print, anyway he is now firmly on the tree as a child of Thomas Searles and Sarah Willers.

Well I wish I was in the book.......... my Searles family as I have found out  have been researched by a gentleman by  the name of Ken Searles he wrote a book called "Bardfield to Brookend" which covers the history of the Searles family in Essex.  And it just happens that we both share the same ancestors  "Thomas Searles and Sarah Willers" so that certainly helps me in my research. When I first started doing my research I always hoped that I would come across someone who had written a book about my family, so part of my wish has come true, only wished someone had thought to do that with my McCarthy line.

true, how boring would it be, if it was all done for us, but still a little help alone the way does hurt anyone and if it gets us over the brick wall then all the better.

Hi Jericho,

Just thought I'd mention that I have personally researched my line of Searles back to William Searles and Grace Goldstone.  Which means I can confirm the findings of Ken Searles on three of the families you and I have in common.  They are:-
William Searles and Grace Goldstone,
Thomas Searles and Mary Gun.
Thomas Searles and Sarah Willers (Willis), parents of your Henry and my Thomas.

I haven't yet got round to looking for William's baptism which is thought to be Gt Saling or Bardfield (Little) Saling, if it is at Gt Saling I won't be able to find it because their PRs don't start until 1713.  If it is Bardfield saling I'm in with a chance, no doubt on my next UK visit I'll know for sure  ;D

Searching for Thomas (husband of Sophia Fuel (Fewell) led me to his parents, William & Grace before I made contact with Ken Searles or the other Searles researchers,  The marriage of William and Grace eluded me until the other researchers and Ken came on the scene, a real godsend.

Regards.
