1901 Census look up for Ruth Richardson

I'm new and would love some help on how to trace "my roots" My Grandmother was Ruth Richardson, born in 1900 in Bedfordshire, not sure where but somewhere near Biggleswade where I was born. She died in 1993 in Bedford. I would love to try and find out some thing about her parents and family, unfortunately both my parents are now also no longer with us. She was married twice, first to someone "Mayne" they had two sons, John and Dennis, then to my mothers dad, Edmund Butler in 1933. My mother Valerie Ruth was born in 1934, her dad died the same year aged 21. I know my nan had brothers and sisters one of which I believe was called "Kitty" and a younger sister Gladys. If anyone has any idea how I could find out about my Grandad Edmund Butler as well that would be fantastic, I think his dad was also called Edmund Butler and I think my nan and he were married in Lambeth in 1933.

According to her death reg - Ruth was born 5.5.1900 but there is no birth in Bedfordshire for her

Her birth should have been registered in the June qtr of 1900 and the only 2 Ruth Richardsons were in Merthyr Tydfil and Dartford

There is a birth in Sunderland in the September qtr but that would be a bit late for a May birth registration

This is her first marriage

Marriages June qtr 1922   John L Mayne/Ruth Richardson  Biggleswade  3b 937

The only birth for a John L Mayne I can find was in 1873 which would make him 27 years older than Ruth

There is no death in Beds - did they divorce?

Had to give up last night - it was late!

Resume today with some info on Edmund James Butler b 1884 Islington

He was christened on 28.9.1884 at St Michaels Islington  - parents George occupation a porter - and Jane   Their address at that time was 259 Copenhagen St

Couldn't find an 1891/1901 census entry so searched and found a death on freebmd  in March qtr 1886 in Islington  See my reply below re: 1911 index entry

I am a bit bothered as the free 1911 index shows an Edmund JAMES Butler b 1888 living in Southwark which matches to a Lilian Butler using the instructions above.

His birthplace does not match to Sussex or Eastbourne so you will need a copy of that 1910 marriage cert to establish his fathers name as there are no other births on freebmd that match his name or a birthyear of 1887/1888

You will also need to view the 1911 entry to see where he was born
