George and Jane Whittle of Surrey
« on: Monday 02 May 11 09:39 BST (UK) »
Hi.

While searching for Whittle's on this site, I noticed the only topic devoted to Whittle's was the Fairground Connection.

I also noticed that a few of the people who posted there were actually after George and Jane Whittle (nee Sedgwick), married in 1902 in Walton-on-Thames.

I am also a descendant of them so I thought it was about time they had a topic of their own.

Hopefully we can share our information, etc., and find some more.

I tried to send messages to some of the people I thought might be interested, but I don't know if people really check them.

Their children were:
George Thomas (1902-1992)
Albert Edward (1904-1972)
Thomas William (1908-1974)
Doris Jane (1910-2004)
Jack Sidney (1913-1989)
William Frederick (1915-2004)
Robert Arthur (1918-1977)
P. D. (born 1920) not sure if living
James Alfred (1922-1982)
G. M. (born 1925) believe to be living
plus C. F. (born 1928) not sure if living

I apologise for any mistakes.

If you know these people, please post!

Hi
Was really good to see the picture of Jane Sedgwick, have always heard the stories about her but never knew what she looked like, quite a formidable lady by what i've been told.  She was my great-great grandmother, her son Thomas was my grandad.

Hi,

How lovely to hear from you! I have also heard many stories of Jane. Formidable describes her perfectly!

I have in my possession an interview with her daughter by an author. She talks about her childhood. I can send it to you.

Could you please post 2 more messages. Then I can PM you with my email address. If you don't understand just ask. Because I'd love to get in contact and share what we know.

Kind Regards

Hi
that would be great to hear, i don't know an awful lot about the family, only what i've been told by my dad and aunt, we never got to meet many family members as kids so it's really interesting learning all about them now, my cousin has been trying to research them so i'm going to pass this on to her too.  Regards Anna

Hi Anna,

I think you need one more post before you can "PM". You can just post "hi" or something. Anyway I've PM'd you so I hope you get it. If not, just say here.

Kind Regards

Hi.  I’ve not been on this site for a number of years and just seen this particular topic.

George and Jane Whittle were my paternal grandparents.  Parents to my dad Lionel Whittle and his siblings.  Sadly most of them have passed away now leaving just two of the younger sisters who are now in their 80’s.
