Just trying to check out Martha/Ellen - seemed to change her name around - the marriage of daughter Ethel states John and Martha Ellen though.

Ethel Evans to Clyde Loring Renard -  Married 27th September 1916 by Phillip Schuyler- Clerk - Born Portland. Maine.
Ethel Evans - Waitress - Born Congleton. England. Father John Evans. Born Little Drayton. England. Gardener. Mother Martha Ellen Musson born Birmingham.

Just found the family returning to Boston in 1905 on SS Cymric. John, Ellen, Frank, Beatrice, Mabel and Ethel. Its a little jumbled but looks as if they are going to Mrs J H Harding. 31 Rockland Street. Natick. Massachusetts. Looks like returning to home - sister-in-law of John, sister of Ellen, Aunt of the children  ???  Also underneath is Robert Davies aged 28 years, single, going to brother-in-law and also John Evans. 31 Rutland Street. Natick.  (Now theres another puzzle - who on earth is that   ???)

Mary Elizabeth her sister married a Meredith so thats one to discount.  ???
Brother William married Caroline Margaret Clowes.
Martha Ellen married or cohabited with John Evans
Harriet married Alfred Penlington

that leaves Emma born in 1877 and Eliza Ann 1860 - copuld be husbands initials that were quoted  ???

Wonder if there is an Obituary for Harriet ? There is a RAOGK volunteer in Cumberland County who will do Obituary look ups (first on the list for Cumberland County) on the link below. Perhaps that may give further information   ???

No problem.  Have'nt managed to locate J H Harding yet so no further progress down that avenue. Perhaps the Obituary for Harriet will help further with Alfred Penlington Jnr.

Funny, there is a Robert Davies aged 23 living with Harriet and Alfred Penlington in 1901 - wonder who he is?  He is just noted as a 'Boarder'

Hi Parmesan,

No luck today on Harding in Massachusetts. See there was a marriage for a Emma Musson in Birkenhead. Cheshire 1901 but did'nt show who to !!  She would have been the right sort of age for Robert Davies whereas Eliza Ann was alot older.  Something might turn up on them yet.

Still nibbling away - If Frank Evans was born in Stafford, had hoped to find a passenger list for them going to Nova - Scotia but nothing showing yet.

Marriage Record for Frank Evans show parents John and Martha L

Frank Evans. Born about 1889. Aged 26 years. Father John Mother Martha L
Spouse: Priscilla Isabella Wells. Aged 22 years. Father William and Mother Nellie
Marriage Date: 22 Sep 1915 Portland  - Registration Place: Portland, Cumberland.

The 1920 Census for Frank and Priscilla says Frank immigrated 1890. The WW1 Draft shows a birth date of 13 th June 1889 which fits with a West Bromwich birth record June 1889 - 6b 789. Has'nt helped finding a marriage for John Evans and Martha though.  ???

Hello

Just seen your post and amongst your names is William married Caroline Margaret Clowes.
They are my Great Grand parents, lived in Chester, William Musson was a canal boatman worked for the Shropshire Union Canel Company, they are both buried in Chester.
I recall my Father John William Musson spoke of an Aunt Emma who lived in Massachusetts,
I believe she made a visit to England possibly in the 1960 and stayed with family in Wolverhampton.

The Musson family feature often in the Wolverhampton area, all worked mainly on the canals. My Grand Father John William Musson Snr was the last to work the canals, his final job being top lock keeper where the Manchester Ship Canal met the Shropshire union, he died in 1943.

I would be interested to learn of any information on Emma as she could be my Great Aunt.

Kindest regards

John Musson
