Can anyone give me an idea as to how long it would take to travel to Sydney Australia from England in around 1895?

I have my great-grandfather's journal which he wrote during his voyage from Adelaide to London in 1886.
They left Australia on 17th May and arrived in London on 28th June.

I doubt there would be much difference from the details you are asking for.

Hi, In 1895 there were several methods and routes ships could take to Australia. Some companies although not many by 1895 were still using sail and these travelled around Africa and the Cape of Good Hope. Others via steam came through the Suez Canal and had a much reduced voyage.

So at worst allowing for several stops around 10 weeks and at best about 5 weeks. By that time we were sending our Cricket team to play England so they would have gone the shortest route.
