Annie Karran b. Peel, IOM c.1849, m. Henry Froome, London
« on: Tuesday 03 May 11 18:57 BST (UK) »
Hi,
Looking for info on ancesters of Annie Karran, born Peel, c. 1849.
She married Henry Froome, in East London, Middx. Q4 1869. I don't have a copy of Annie's marriage certificate, the only reason for getting one would be to find her father's name. If necessary I will send for one. The couple lived mainly in London, with 2 periods of living in Brooklyn, New York. Children as follows: William H (b. N.Y. c.1872), Catherine K (London c.1874), Richard M (London c.1879), Annie R (London, c. 1880), John E(Brooklyn, c.1884), Mary A (London c.1889).
In 1891 Annie is back in Finchley, a widow, together with 5 of her children. Living with them are 2 cousins of Annie, both widows, both born Peel, IOM. I can't properly decipher the names of the cousins - Catherine Durnitt?/Quint?, aged 57, and Minnie? Dornvitt?/Dornvill?, aged 55.Ancestry ref. England Census 1891/Middlesex/Finchley/Dist.8/p.49 (RG12/1056). Annie's name is not clearly writen either.
My interest is in the daughter Catherine Kinley Froome. In 1901, she's in lodgings in Portmadoc (Porthmadog), North Wales, a Dressmaker. In Q1, 1902, she marries William Henry Evans, Draper, Porthmadog, in Barnet, London, they live in Porthmadog and have two children. William Henry died in 1914, in Porthmadog, and Catherine died in 1919 in West Kirby, Liverpool.

Rushen is some distance from Peel
look at 1851 census there are suitable Ann Karrans in German (parish around Peel), Patrick adjacent parish and if name was corran then one in Peel
you will need the marr cert
any thing with a Manx Connection

Hi
Thanks to you both.
Had found the Census entry in parish of German and noted that it was part of Peel; the age is a couple of years out. Useful to know that Patrick also is in Peel area.
Will see what other info turns up before ordering copy of Annie's marriage certificate.

Now know that Annie Karran's father's name was Edward Karran (deceased at date of marriage, 27/12/1869). The witnesses are James Vincent and Martha Sarah Gardner(?) - last letters of surname not clear.
Have not been able to trace Edward.
