Vinter burials at Godmanchester
« on: Wednesday 04 May 11 21:12 BST (UK) »
Hi All
Can anyone tell me if there are any burials for a Pamplin Vinter/Vintner & his wife Mary at Godmanchester? I have found a few children of theirs baptised around 1770's in Godmanchester so I'm thinking he may have been born around 1740/50.
Here's hoping as it seems an unusual christian name.
Lynn

Hi Jan
Thanks for your prompt reply. Think the burial in 1789 for Pamplin is the right one & possibly one of the first two for Mary.
Many thanks
Lynn

Hi Lynn

I found a Pamplin Vinter christened in 1741 at Glatton, Hunts, with parents
Robert and Mary which would make the age for his future children about right. It is an unusual name but thats good in Ancestry its a nightmare looking for a John Smith lol.
Looks like Pamplins wife Mary was called Mary Hargrave or Whitelesey before she married as they put the surname Whitelesey in some of their childrens names. The marriage was 26th April 1765
I cannot find his death at the moment.  It would seem the name lived on as I have found another Pamplin Vinter marrying in London a hundred years later.

Looked for the name meaning of Pamplin seeming from a French pet name which was then based on a Greek martyr called Pamphilos

Hope this helps a little

Hi
Just come across your enquiry about Pamplin Vinter; do you need any more advice.
I am a Vinter family member and have quite a bit of information.

Hi Chippy
My Vinter line is from Jane Vinter c.11/9/1772 Godmanchester daughter of Pamplin Vinter & Mary Hargrave. Jane married George Clifton 7/5/1793 Godmanchester & George's parents were George Clifton & Sarah Mackennis. Have got little info on the Vinters so any info to flesh out this family would be great. Presume someone way back had something to do with wine & I worked in Thresher wine shops 20 years ago.
My Hunts. family includes Gibbs, Robinson, Wright, Middleton, Maile, Titchmarsh, Elderkin.
Thanks Lynn

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you:-
I have quite a bit of information on the VINTER family.
Jane 1772 born to Pamplin & Mary Hargrave.
Pamplin 1741 born to Robert & Mary Pamplin.
Robert 1701 born to Robert & Elizabeth Wellbury
Robert 1675 born to Robert & Jane Blake.
Robert 1648 born to Richard & Elizabeth Harvy.

Robert & Mary Pamplin are my 6 x great grandparents.

I have more and I can send you a private message after another posting.
