Ockham School, Near Ripley, Surrey 1850/51
« on: Friday 06 May 11 13:08 BST (UK) »
I posted my request in the wrong region (Sussex), so here it is again;

Can someone help me find a list of pupils who attended this establishment around the time, census perhaps?
Headmaster or administrator is said to have been a Mr. T. Wilson.

TIA!
Maria

Theres an 'Industrial School' in OCKHAM - Guildford District, shown as RIPLEY Registrars District on the Enumerator's page ...

The 'General Teacher' who is the Head of Household is a Thomas Wilson.

HO107/Piece: 1594 Folio: 240 Page: 36

do you want the names at that establishment?

Its split into 2 schedules - Page 37 has another Teacher Mistress and a few more younger scholars.

This looks like the right school! The history of Ockham school is very interesting, here is a mention
http://www.weyriver.co.uk/theriver/wey_nav_5.htm.
Search for "Ockham's Park Estate" and read on.

Yes,  I would love to have a look at the names, but perhaps you can PM me with the list or link?

I am interested in several names there.

Thanks for your quick reply!

Maria

No, I don't have access to the census. Googling for it brings me to a few pay-per-view sites, are there free sites where I can look up the original records myself?

You have already helped me a lot! Thanks!
