I don't know if there is any connection with the "fullerton" in Anne Gove's name but I see that the 1841 census shows an Anne Hampton age 30 living in Fetteresso with Hugh Fullerton and his family.
Those Fullertons and related names associated with the family of George Fullerton and Margaret Pirie who resided at Mains of Dun about 1740 and Knox of Benholm after 1760, and their descendents scattered from Lunan to Peterhead, across Canada and the United States, and assuredly elsewhere.

Hi,

My husband is descended from Andrew Gove & Mary Ann Strachan's son, Alexander b.5 Oct 1839.
I would like to find out more about these Goves.
Thanks.

Hi folks.

I'm a few years late in joining this thread but only just starting to re-look at my husbands family tree.

My husbands Gt, Gt Grandmother was Christina Gove born Feb 1853 in Gourdon - parents were Andrew Gove and Mary Ann Strachan.  Christina married Alexander Davidson and Gove has been used as a middle name since.

I have that Andrew and Mary Ann had 12 children but except for what I read here about Andrew and what I already have about Christina we know nothing of all the others and their descendants.  Would love to make contact with relatives while my father in law is still around.

Regards

Carrie

Hi Carrie,

I have 11 children for Mary Ann and Andrew. I have parents for her and a number of ancestors for him. My husband is through Alexander, the second born. His mother's maiden name was Gove and she is still living (in South Africa).

I have no spouse or descendants for Christina. But I have info on some other siblings. I am happy to work with you to fill out our trees. We can work on this site or by email - which may be easier because of attachments. *

Looking forward to hearing from you, Alisan

Jim,

I don't have John, but I have two you don't have so I see you have just found one of them, thanks to Ev (thanks Ev).
I also have Annabella (1858) of Inverbervie.

I see you are also a descendant.

Hi Alisan,

Yes, I'm related through Andrew, B 9 Dec 1841.

He married Martha Begg on 29 Dec 1866 in Inverbervie.

I haven't as yet sorted out all their family, but they had a son, Munro Gove, B 1  Aug 1872 in Kinneff.

Munro married Bridget Watt on 10 Dec 1897 in Stonehaven.

Munro & Bridget had 10 children.  My mother Martha Begg Gove being number 8, B 14 June 1911 in Marykirk.

Martha married David Wallace Irvine in 1943, and had a daughter, Margaret Gove Irvine soon after.  She was born extremely prematurely, and only lived 3 days.  She would probably have survived with today's technology, but in those days with a war going on, she died.

I was born on 27th July 1947 in St Cyrus, and caused my mother so much bother at my birth, she couldn't have any more children.  I'm James Munro Irvine

I can give you more information on my Mother's siblings if you are interested.  Mother passed away in 2000, and was the last surviving member of that generation.
