Thanks for the info Anthony.   Some of my family (Hallidays) lived there at No 31 @ 1860, couldn't find it on the old maps.
Appreciated
Peter.

Hi Anthony,
Yup, that's my family.   William was my ggrandfather, Francis (Frank)  his brother.
I have been given a book by an American cousin in Utah,  "Abraham and Mary", the history of our Hallidays, the book mentions Little Orchard St, but didn't mention where in Belfast it was.
My grandfather John Halliday was born at 31 Little Orchard St.
Family say my grandmother's parents  Robert Wilson and Elizabeth Ralston  went to USA in 1872, eventually "returned" to Belfast, so it would appear they too came from there.
When my grandmother Rebecca Wilson married John Halliday, their first child was born in Shankhill.   My grandmother had a Belfast accent you could cut with a knife, so she spent many years there.
It's good to get additional confirmation Anthony, thanks for taking the trouble.
Regards
Peter

Apologies, Anthony,
don't know where I got "Orchard St" from.  Of course it's Little York St.
I've been reviewing my posts, is it possible you can confirm house number in directory is "39"?
"31" is the number given by a commercial researcher, also the number given by an aunt many years ago.

Hi Peter. Yes it was 39, there was 6 names for Halliday's in 1860 but none for Little Patrick St.

There was 4 names for Halliday's in 1865 one was in Great Patrick St thats the next St to Little Patrick St.

Hello,
Hope you dont mind me jumping into your thread, but i was wondering if there might possibly be any connection between your Hallidays and the one/s in my own tree.
My gtgt grandmother was Helen(or Ellen) Halliday born 6.12.1842 Co. Antrim.
She married on 2.4.1871 to John Bogue at St Annes, Belfast and they subsequently went to Scotland.
As far as I know, Helens parents were John Halliday and Mary Fletcher.
Be great to hear from you and even better if there is a connection!!
Thanks.
