Hi,
First time poster.
I'm attempting to link my US Hogg's/Hogge's/Hogue's to their Irish roots. I received a stack of letters from my grandmother and one was from a Margaret Hogg from Pollamalady, Virginia, County Cavan, Ireland dated 6 November 1881. In it, Ms. Hogg states she is a cousin of my US Hogge's and mentions her immediate family members:
Father - William
Sister - Marion
Brothers - John & Charles
My first immigrant Hogg/Hogge/Hogue was a Robert Hogge who was born abt 1787 in Ireland and immigrated to the US prior to 1809 (his first son, Robert Jr. was born in New Hampshire in 1808).
I found Margaret Hogg in the 1901 Pollamalady census aged 63 (b abt 1838). The best I can guess from the DOB's is that Margarets father William may be a brother or possibly uncle of my first ancestor Robert Hogge.
Any help with these County Cavan Hogg's would be greatly appreciated.
