Wetheral comes under Carlisle registration district and there is no Benjamin born between 1905 and 1908. It is possible that he was registered with another name but known as Benjamin, and  he then used that for the rest of his life.

I would have thought Benjamin and Elizabeth would have been on a electoral Roll in Carlisle, would this help in anyway?

I also have the 1881 census for Robert Bowman's parents and family.  Robert Bowman (Head) age 52 born at Wetheral, Cumberland, occupation as a Blacksmith.  His wife Mary Bowman age 50 born England. Their daughter Margaret Bowman age 31 born Cumrew, Cumberland, occupation as a Cotton Reeler. Mary Ann Bowman age 22 born Dalston, Cumberland, Occupation as a Cotton Reeler. Robert Bowman aged 20 born Cummersdale mills, Cumberland, occupation as a Blacksmith.  Catherine Bowman aged 18 born Cummersdale Mills, Cumberland and William Bowman, Grand Son aged 5 born Cummersdale Mills.  At the time of the 1881 census the family lived at Cummersdale Mills, Cumberland.

I dont think so as we need to find his birth before we can look for his death really.
