Thank you Graceland for your email Rudd????????????
Not sure what it meant? Maybe it was just saying `hello`? Not sure if you have any info to share about the Rudds of Bromyard?
I am finding it quite difficult to get used to using this site, but no doubt it will beome more familier the more I use it!

Hi there Rudd

Have you followed your RUDDS through the census returns 1841 - 1901

Not quite clear on what kind of help you are requesting

Hi Chris in Hastings,
I am very new to the roots chat site and am trying to fathom out how to get around it.
Re my Rudds in Bromyard, I have found my way back through my Gr mothers line to Edward Rudd  & Elizabeth (nee perry) married Edvin Ralph  31st July 1827. I understand that Edvin Ralph is only 2 miles from Bromyard, Herefordshire.Dont know what to do next!
I have little experience in genealogy, I have been fortunate to be given help on various sites....
Any ideas how I find more info....regards julie B. What a busy person you are! I have just been reading some of your messages in just one day!!!

Hi there Rudd

Julie B

Welcome to Rootschat

Yep, these boards keep me rather busy, but I enjoy doing it, so much so that I lecture in Local, Family and Social History at Colleges throughout East Sussex.

If you have followed them back through the census returns to 1841 and civil registration a few years before at 1837 - There is only one main avenue for you to follow - Parish Registers.

Our ancestors did not move about much in those early days, so they usually married from the same or next village.

You have a marriage at Edvin Ralp in 1827, the bride usually married in her own parish - so that has to be your starting point, find the marriage, will possibly give age and fathers name, look back for baptism in same church or nearby church etc.

You can help narrow the field down a bit by using

www.familysearch.org  or otherwise known as the LDS or Mormon Church.

They filmed most of the Parish Registers which are available through the site above, on cd, or at a local LDS centre.

Hope that helps
