why not send your photo to the Shrewsbury chronicle tel (01743 248248) , they publish old photos of the region every week, and ask the readers to gueese the location, If there is anobody living in Shropshire , that can identify your snap , they will let you know.

A very late response, but to the question why is the Southport Visiter so named, rather than Visitor, is because at the time that it was first printed, "visiter" was an accepted alternative spelling for the word (the paper's main purpose was to list the visitors in town... many fashionable folk brought their eligible offspring to Southport for the season to find a good match, so knowing who was in town was important).

The paper kept it's outdated spelling.
