Yes, Torrington  Lancashire IS CERTAINLY Tottington, Lancashire.

I had to research the following:

1851 Moston – John Isherwood, 33,  Coal Miner of ‘Torrington’ Lancs &

From the above, is is utterly evident that the birthplaces were TOTTINGTON on the census - Holcombe being in Tottington Lower End District and hard by Turton parish in Bolton-le-Moors

The 'rr' replacement for 'tt' is quite common in Lancashire - 'Lorra, lorra laughs' Cilla Black, being a clear example!
