Thanks, but I'm looking for non-member entries as they are so often incorrect.
Cheers,

If you have access to Ancestry, they have a book in their Stories and Publications section called "A genealogy and history of the Hute [i.e. Chute] family in America: with some account of the family in Great Britain and Ireland, with an account of forty allied families gathered from the most authentic sources" which indicates Charles Ansley Armstrong was the son of Frank Armstrong and Mary Barnes, widow of Joseph Gilliland. This book was written by William Edward Chute and published in 1894.

If the correct person...There is this death of a Charles "E" Armstrong born 1820 to a Frank & Mary, died in 1904 Minnesota. Just looked at the link given you and this matches that death info.
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FDMK-SP2 which says both Frank & Mary were born in N.S.
found this site which has his obituary on page...so looks to be good if wife put down correct family. Fabulous info such as that he was "Digby, Nova Scotia, on June 3, 1820." Who gets that in an obit??  http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=mbwheeler&id=I008321
The year they emigrated to U.S. is incorrect however as I looked at Canada 1871, but found them already in U.S for 1870 census https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/MD4Y-JQ5?cc=1438024 The marriage in 1842 would be a good proof to find ..
Might be the immigration to the U.S. in 1868 https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/KD5H-D8J   https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/KD5H-47Y also a Lavinna and some obscure spellings that could be the children, so may want to check it out.

The submitted file given you says children were Elsie Catherine James Frank & George
Brother Francis marriage and perhaps births of cousins  http://www.rootschat.com/links/0yl4/
Some trees online have father having also married before with more half siblings

Just as an aside, wonder if he may have called himself Ansley as there is a birth with no forename as yet registered as female March 7th 1866 Digby Neck ...says mother is M. (probably Mary)Jane but the one previous says Sybil so wondering if a visual switch when registered.

Armstrong, born 1866 in Digby, Digby County  yr. 1866 - Book: 1807/ Page: 13  /Numbers 98

Yes, it seems George Ross's wife was Mary Jane Peters ....https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/F2WM-NGM so might the above be the birth of Ida Belle?
I see the publication found earlier has her born 1865, but some of that info may have been gleaned from census  https://archive.org/stream/agenealogyandhi00chutgoog#page/n100/mode/2up/search/barnes
There is an another birth of a male, no forename, with an Ansley as father in 1867 Digby Neck birth...mother Margaret Ann Wilson...

The LOYALISTS  OF THE  AMERICAN REVOLUTION has an Ansley Armstrong listed.

Armstrong birth Digby Neck, Digby 1867 / Book 1807/ p.37 #227

Just got back to this now...and..ack... seems the FHS transcription has interpreted that John Henderson's wife was Margaret Ann Wilson
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/F2DV-HS9
and also that his wife is Mary Jane Dunn? https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/F2WS-KJ
What ledger were they looking at? there is an empty space where a mistake may have been overlooked.

Here is John Henderson with Margaret 1871..and George Ross with Mary Jane further down on page http://data2.collectionscanada.ca/1871/jpg/4396664_00488.jpg
But her surname looks to be Lambertson/Lamberton/Lamberson

So appears there may be errors on those pages!  Also what could possibly be two births for your Charles as Ansley, just prior to leaving for the U.S. ...or it could also be another relative with the middle name of Ansley using his middle name...
