Terra Curragh, Sligo
« on: Tuesday 26 April 05 19:53 BST (UK) »
Hi there

I have come across ancestors who moved to Lancashire and who gave their place of birth in the 1891 Census as
Terra Curragh, Sligo.
I wonder if anyone can give me any info as to where this is, since I can't find it in a current atlas. The nearest I have found is Tobercurry - might this be the place?

thanks
Joyce

Hei Joyce,

http://www.thecore.com/seanruad - IreAtlas Townland Search.
Terra Curragh (or wherever) is certainly a townland which you will only find on a large scale map.
I had a look in IreAtlas and I think it may be -
Curraghnagap (a townland of 117 acres)
in the Barony of Tireragh
Civil Parish - Easky
PLU - Dromore West.
It would be somewhere in the area between Easky and Tobercurry

Best Wishes,

Christopher
