Not sure what became of James. There's a death in Bathavon district in 1945, but the age is a couple of years out.  Despite his disability he seems to have been in full time employment as an adult in the local shoemaking industry

I have been digging about Samuel's parents and the name Eliza Glide has been suggested and it seems the only Thomas 1811 and Eliza 1814 is a marriage in Taunton 27/8/1839. This Eliza was living in Eastreach, Taunton. Her father Richard being a butcher. The 1861 census suggest the Eliza was born in Lyng. I can't find her on the 1851 census but it seems Samuel and Eliza were at Hedfing, Lyng in 1841. Any further info or confirmation regarding them or their ancestors would be appreciated. Thanks Mark

Eliza Glide bapt. at Lyng 16.4.1814- daughter of Thomas Glide( a butcher) and Mary. I can not, as yet, see a marriage for Thomas and Mary.

Have you got the marriage date correct? There's banns for Thomas and Eliza on Ancestry from August 1838 - in Lyng, both of this parish (which Ancestry as indexed as 1837, based on the previous entry!)

Also, slightly confused by your reference to Samuel and Eliza in Hedfing, Lyng in 1841, as Samuel wasn't born until c1850

I think this is them in North Petherton

Thomas Stacey    30
Eliza Stacey    27
Caroline Stacey    11 Mo

HO107; 953; 51; 13;

There's a Caroline registered in Bridgwater in 1840, mmn Glide
