Margaret Jones, b1868, Brecon
« on: Monday 23 May 11 01:29 BST (UK) »
I would love to receive any information about my paternal grandmother, Margaret Jones, born in Brecon in 1868. Her father was David Jones, listed on her marriage certificate of 22 April 1889 as 'Farmer, deceased'. She married Ernest Lindsay Wright in Stoke Newington, London, and had two sons, Alfred Edgar (1894) and Herbert Arthur (1897). She died in South Lambeth, London on 17 March 1943.

Hi Suz
This was my first posting on Rootschat, and I'm thrilled by your fast response. I don't have any more information about her, and have been overwhelmed by the number of Margaret Jones' in Brecon, as you probably already know. Her marriage witnesses were William Thomas Darler and Amy Parry. I am a beginner in family history, and have no idea how she met my grandfather, or when she went to London.
Thank you

Little bit of information

It seems Margaret Jones and Ernest Lindsay Wright were witnesses at the marriage of William Thomas Darler (who was a witness at their wedding!!)

Marriage
21 Oct 1888
St Matthias Stoke Newington
William Thomas Darler 29 Bachelor  Occ Stonemasonof 22 Cowper Rd Father Charles Frederick Darler Occ Carman
Amelia Wright 29 spinster of 22 Cowper Rd father John Wright occ Coachman

witnesses ERNEST LINDSAY WRIGHT
MARGARET JONES

Was Amelia Wright related to Ernest Lindsay Wright???

At least we know margaret was in London in 1888

Maybe AmyParry is a link to Margaret??

I am so impressed - thank you so much, you've already told me things I didn't know. Amelia was Ernest's sister - Ernest was born in 1867, and Amelia in 1860. I don't know of any Metcalfe link, but during my father's (Herbert) early years in South Lambeth the family seemed to always have boarders.

Hi Suz

Have you had any further success in following up on Margaret Jones? I'd appreciate hearing from you. I'll be visiting the UK in September, and would also appreciate any advice on following up on this matter.
