Evacuees-1942-43 Corfe Castle area
« on: Monday 23 May 11 19:40 BST (UK) »
I was evacuated to Steepl Manor in 1942-1943 along with my sister and some 20+ children all from the Southampton area, I believe a Mr and Mrs Hiatt/Hyatt, also from Southampton were the housekeepers at the time, being 9 yrs old I cannot recall many of the names of those billetted in the manor house, given up by Major Swann who moved across to the Rectory, Johnny MacDonald comes to mind and Dorothy Squires whilst Miss Montgomery, my teacher in the junior school in Southampton, was our teacher at Church Knowle school just along the road in the next village, she taught all of us in one classroom with ages ranging from 5/6yrs to 14.
Does any one know of any information relating to this period of WW2 in this area of Dorset or have any knowledge of anyone who was also evacuated at this time and place?

Thank you Sylvia, I cannot find anything relating to the area I was evacuated to, so I might put together a few words and post on there myself, many thanks for your interest.
