Trundles of Lismore
« on: Wednesday 25 May 11 00:25 BST (UK) »
I am looking for anyone who may have connections to the Trundle family. The father, Edmund, was the estate manager of Lismore Castle circa 1900.

Link to previous thread with Trundle information-
www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,260584.msg3883020.html

Here's the family in 1911 census (wife is Emily as posted in other thread not Lily)- think word in occupation should be Agril (short for agricultural) rather than April-

Here's the family in 1901 census- again, wife is Emily- occupation fits with 'Agril' in 1911- Estate Clerk and Secretary to Cromore Agricultural Society:

Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Thank you so very much!

This is certainly the family (because of the Duke of Devonshire connection) but I'm still baffled and I'll tell you why.

My reference is a short memoir written by Laura Trundle. She wrote "... I was second from the top. Gertrude, Laura, Blanche, Harriet, Emily, Amy, George, Neville, Ray and Arthur. Six girls first and 4 boys." My grandmother's name doesn't appear on either census and yet she was the oldest child. Looking at both census' together, all the children are accounted for except Gertrude, my grandmother.

She also states "He met our mother, Lilly Poole, at choir practice. Her father was the organist at the Lismore Cathedral at that time."

So you can see why I'm slightly confused.

That aside, I consider these documents priceless and I am thrilled to be able to share them with my relatives! Thanks again!

In 1901 Gertrude Trundle is a visitor in household of grandfather Charles Poole-

In 1911 her sister Amy is staying with grandfather Poole-

In 1911 sister Laura Mary is here-

Which made it easy to find Gertrude Trundle in the same place (name has been left with a ? on transcription)-

Hi, my great grandfather is Ray Trundle who is your grandmother's brother. My mum also has a copy of Laura's memoirs when they all stayed at Ballyin.  My Gran, Ray's daughter is 83yrs old and we live in Scotland. It would be great to hear from you.

Hello!

It looks like Laura Trundle's memoirs really made the rounds!
It's nice to "meet" you, so to speak!
