Hi,
I've received the certificates and there is good and bad news. The bad is that the birth certificate for Festiniog June 1863 gives the father's name as Owen Jones (again). The good is that the marriage certificate definitely looks to be right. The details are as follows....
29 March 1864 at Register Office in Festiniog.
James Jones, age 24, Bachelor, Tailor (Journeyman), Residence- Portmadoc Ynyscynhaiarn, father James Jones (deceased) Cabinet Maker (Journeyman).
Jane Hatcher, age 23, Spinster, Domestic servant, Residence- Aberia Llanifihangely Traethau, (note, the writing is very small so I may have misread),father William Hatcher, Farmer.
The registrar signed James's & Jane's names. The witnesses signed their own names- Owen Walter Evans & Anne James.

Thank you for your help, Gary.

Hi
Is the birth certificate you've had a copy of now, exactly the same as the one you previously had ? If not what are all the details on the latest one.
There seems to be a problem in that Free BMD shows a Mary Catherine Jones born Ffestiniog Registration District Q2 1863, and another one in Pwllheli Reg Dist in Q1 1864. The Pwllheli one does not appear on North Wales BMD.
Ynyscynhaiarn was in Ffestiniog district of Merioneth, although it was in Caernarvonshire. It was later transferred to Pwllheli R D of Caernarvonshire. Llanfihangel y Traethau is across the Glaslyn Estuary, in Merioneth. Aberia is now the Italian style village of Portmeirion, setting of the TV cult series The Prisoner. Jane Hatcher is not recorded there on 1861 Census.
Will send you a PM later today, or tomorrow.
