Welcome to Rootschat. Your query will probably be better off on one of the Armed Forces boards (depending on the dates involved- WWI, etc.).
Can you please give us an idea of when J. Stack lived/was in the Army?
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Hi Sammy & welcome to Rootschat :)
The National Archives have a Military Cross awarded to Warrant Officer (Class 1) J Stack of the Irish Guards  for gallantry in Norway in 1940.  The announcement was in the London Gazette 27 Sep 1940.

many thanks for your help will check it out, my wife" father Danny Holland recently died and she is trying to trace her Irish relatives seems to be a bit of a puzzle as her fathers mother was Bridget Stack and Johnny was part of this puzzle. Her Father Danny was born in Bandon in 1929. Once again many thanks for your help
