*Completed Thank You* Eliza(beth) MacKenzie nee Campbell
« on: Sunday 29 May 11 22:42 BST (UK) »
This is an offshoot from my census look up for the Gollans.

I found Elizabeth C MacKenzie widow along with the Gollans on census for Spittal Shore Killearnan in 1881 aged 77.  Also on 1871 on the next page but still with the Gollans same address as Elizabeth Campbell aged 70.
On both occasions she is the sister in law of John and sister of Isabella.  She is still with her parents on the 1841 at Whitewells Killearnan aged 35.

I did find her death certificate which states she is the widow of John Mackenzie (Tailor) and her marriage in 1848 is on Familysearch ;D  I can't find her birth (unreliable ages on death and census) or 1851 or 1861 census returns.  :-[

It looks like this may be John MacKenzie in the 1841 census as he is the only John MacKenzie Tailor in Ross & Cromarty of the right approximate age.  I can only presume his wife died shortly after this census.

How about this one in 1861 at Killearnan - although Elizabeth seems a bit old for having children and John is not a Tailor.

John Mckenzie   58 born Dingwall, West Indiana Pensioner (as transcribed)
Elizabeth Mckenzie   58 born Killearnan
Isabella Mckenzie   11 daughter born Killearnan

In 1851 I think it's the same family at Whitewells, Killearnan although Isabella's is given as 4 at Ancestry (I wonder if it should be 4 months) and
the mother is Elspet. John occupation is Penshuner. ::)
